Black Jack is a surgeon without a license, but he performs the most difficult and amazing surgeries for big bucks. People in real trouble will contact him as a last resort and he always pulls through.
This book has nine chapters — nine surgeries — but none of them confinced me I was reading something I could like. The stories, as the characters, were shallow. For me this book shouldn’t be allowed to call itself graphic novel.

Ginko is a Master of Mushi: he knows everything about molds, fungus, bugs etc. And in that respect he is kind of a detective roaming around the world to solve mushi problems and puzzles.
The concept is good and the different stories are too, but this volume has five cases, and after the third one, every story seems quite the same. It’s a shame there is no originality in the stories’ structures. But nonetheless you should give the Mushishi a change.
Finny Bleak is a normal teenage boy, but in this book normal is the new weird. His ancestors ghosts are still around and make his life more difficult than it has to be. He gets pestered at school and lives his life surrounded by undead people.
But when he meets a girl at the yearly carnaval, his life seems to brighten up. But…he isn’t a Bleak for nothing.
Very entertaining and humorous book. The animation is great. So for a (very) quick read in between your choice of serious literature I can recommend this one.
There are a lot of Jane Austen fans out there, me included. I laughed together with Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and prejudice), cried with Elinor Dashwood (Sense and sensibility), was naive as Fanny Price (Mansfield Park) and caught up in the many plans of Emma (Emma).
